Fair use, stated up front
Every brand sells the word unlimited with a rule in the fine print. Ours fits in one sentence, printed before you pay.
Unlimited Japan plans carry data all trip on KDDI 4G and 5G, speed capped at 10 Mbps, no daily data ceiling. That is the entire rule.
Maps, transit, camera translate, chat, video calls, HD streaming, social. What feels the cap: 4K streaming and heavy laptop downloads over hotspot. If that is your trip, take a fixed plan instead.
Full network speed until the bucket is used, then 384 kbps for the remaining days, enough for messages and a map tile. The bucket and each plan's hotspot rule are printed at checkout.
Normal tourist week: 10GB for a week at $12.44. All-day laptop over hotspot: 20GB across 15 days at $21.84, because a laptop eats 10 Mbps alive. Never want to count: Unlimited for a week at $33.68. Prices are the live catalog, checked October 22, 2026.
The ceiling belongs in the headline, not the FAQ. If the rule ever changes, this page and every checkout change the same day.
Yes, with a lot of headroom. Transit directions, live platform changes and the camera translate on a menu all sit far below 10 Mbps.
Most of our Japan plans allow hotspot, and each plan prints its own rule at checkout before you pay. Hotspot traffic rides the same 10 Mbps cap, which is fine for mail and documents and slow for a heavy work day.
No. The unlimited plans have no daily data ceiling. The 10 Mbps cap is the entire rule and it applies from the first minute, not as a punishment.
